SUPERABSORBENT POLYMER: SAPCEL for Construction
Maple Biotech has developed SAP from Natural Bio-Polymer which has extra ordinary tolerance to Calcium salts present in water and excels in performance in comparison with synthetic petroleum based polymers.

SUPER ABSORBENT POLYMER FOR CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
In recent decades great advances in concrete technology have been made, to a large extent due to the development and use of new chemical additives. These additives, although added to concrete in very small quantities, can dramatically improve crucial characteristics of concrete in its fresh and/or hardened state.
One of the key considerations in concrete technology is gaining control over the water therein. The introduction of Superabsorbent polymers (SAP) as a new component for the
production of concrete materials offers a number of new possibilities with respect to water control and, as a result, to the control over the rheological properties of fresh concrete, this in addition to purposeful water absorption and/or water release in either fresh or hardened concrete. The well controlled uptake and release of water can be fostered by the specific design of SAP materials adapted to particular practical needs. As examples of this, the internal curing of high‐performance concrete (HPC) and the inducing of abrupt changes in rheological behaviour during shotcreting might be given here, but the potential for innovation is far wider.
Another persistent problem in modern concrete technology relates to the creation in concrete of advantageous pore systems which could improve its durability, especially in terms of freeze‐thaw resistance. Contemporaneously, airentrainment agents are widely used for this purpose. However, the entrained air voids frequently are not stable enough to tolerate transport, compacting, or in some instances specific methods of application such as spraying. In contrast, pore systems built up as a result of SAP‐addition seem to remain stable regardless of the consistency of the concrete, of the addition of super‐plasticizer, or of the method of placement and compacting.
For their application in concrete, the following properties of SAP are of particular relevance:
* Chemical stability in ionic solutions;
* Absorption and desorption behaviour in concrete (or, alternatively, in cement paste filtrate), under pressure and at different temperatures;
* Particle size (distribution).
-
SAPCEL-CONSTRUCTION of Maple Biotech has greatest stability in ionic solution. Please see the video below to understand the failure of acrylic SAP in saline conditions or in presence of Calcium salts in cement. (Link may be copied and pasted in your browser)
-
Conventional acrylic based super absorbents have particle size of about 300 to 400 microns whereas SAPCEL-CONSTRUCTION has particle size less than 70 microns. This ensures uniform curing and better pore size control and fewer and tighter cracks.

SPECIFICATIONS
-
Polysaccharide Content: 100%
-
Made from 100 % Natural Polymer doesn’t contain any synthetic / petroleum base material.
-
Salt contents in soil/ Cement does not affect water holding capacity and can be used in Marshy land and concrete Mortar too.
-
No toxic/ Carcinogenic residues which can pollute ground water over longer period of use are left in soil
Releasing ability of water as soil gets dried unlike synthetic absorbent. Synthetic absorbents if used in excess quantity can dehydrate plants and can cause damage to plants.
